About the job
- Support One CGIAR breeding analytics process team in establishing standards for data quality and analytics
- Analyze large multi–year and multi–location data sets collected from trials in Africa using appropriate statistical software
- Advise IITA staff in planning field experiments and biophysical and socioeconomic surveys and data analysis
- Conduct independent data cleaning, exploratory data analysis, analytical and visualization support, presentations, and assigned tasks, including drafting of reports and methodology notes of analytics conducted
- Contribute to publish scientific articles in refereed journals documenting research progress
- Provide technical training in applied statistics and support scientists, visiting scientists, trainees, and national program scientists in team-based research projects
- Perform all other related duties as required by the needs of the Center
Requirements
QUALIFICATION:
Masters in Biostatistics, Data Science, Statistics or related field with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience performing similar role in a well-structured environment. Experience in machine learning and Cloud Computing using R Programming is added advantage.
COMPETENCIES:
The ideal candidate must:
- Be experienced with exploratory data analysis, and/or data mining, text analytics, machine learning and big data processing techniques
- Have excellent programming/coding skills related to data collection, data management and analytics using statistical software (e.g., R, ASReml-R, Python, etc.)
- Have good oral and written communication skills in English
