Job Description

• Installs maintains and repairs elevator and escalator equipment, controls, lighting and circuits. Ensures work is by relevant codes.

• Maintains and repairs elevators, escalators, and similar equipment.

• Troubleshoots and locates malfunctions in brakes, motors, switches, and signal and control systems using test equipment. Reads and interprets schematics.

• Disassembles defective units and cleans, repairs or replaces controller parts, generators, and brushes.

• Operates elevator to determine power demand and tests power consumption to detect overload factors.

• Performs other general building maintenance as needed.

• Able to work under pressure.

• Other ad hoc duties as may be required.

Experience and Qualification

• A good Diploma (ND) or Trade Test Certificate in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

• Relevant certification in lift and escalator services and maintenance.

• Previous work experience as a lift and escalator service technician.

• Advanced knowledge of lift/elevator systems and escalators.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical malfunctions.

• Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects.

• Ability to travel and work for hours when required.

• Ability to work independently.
