Sales & Business Development at CredPal, Lagos, Nigeria
We are seeking a highly driven Sales & Business Development professional to lead client acquisition, investment mobilisation, and commercial growth for Widestride International Limited’s investment products, particularly the WIL Balanced Asset.
The successful candidate will be responsible for building and converting a strong pipeline of High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNIs), corporates, institutional investors, family offices, associations, cooperatives, and other qualified investors, while developing strategic partnerships that increase Assets Under Management (AUM), revenue, and market presence.
The role requires a commercially minded professional with strong knowledge of financial and investment products, excellent relationship-management capabilities, and a demonstrable track record of mobilising funds and closing investment mandates.
Responsibilities
- Drive investment mobilisation into the WIL Balanced Asset and other approved investment products across equities, fixed income, FX, and other SEC-approved asset classes, while identifying attractive investment opportunities and assessing relevant market risks.
- Achieve agreed monthly, quarterly, and annual AUM, revenue, and client acquisition targets.
- Identify, prospect, engage, and convert HNIs, corporates, institutional investors, family offices, cooperatives, and other qualified investors.
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective investors and investment mandates.
- Build long-term relationships with existing clients to drive retention, repeat investment, referrals, and increased wallet share.
- Identify new markets, distribution channels, strategic partnerships, and opportunities for investment growth.
- Develop relationships with corporates, financial institutions, investment clubs, professional associations, and other organisations with significant investible funds.
- Present and market investment products, proposals, portfolio information, and performance reports to prospective and existing clients.
- Clearly communicate the structure, benefits, risks, and investment strategy of the WIL Balanced Asset.
- Demonstrate good understanding of Treasury Bills, bonds, money market funds, term deposits, equities, REITs, and other approved investment instruments.
- Work closely with the Treasury Portfolio Manager and Investment team to align client expectations with portfolio strategy.
- Provide market and client intelligence to support product development, pricing, positioning, and investment strategy.
- Monitor market developments, interest rates, yields, competitor products, investor behaviour, and emerging investment opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of prospects, client engagements, investment commitments, and conversion status.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on investment mobilisation, AUM growth, revenue, pipeline value, conversion rates, and client acquisition.
- Develop forecasts for expected investment inflows and pipeline conversion.
- Represent Widestride at investor meetings, industry events, conferences, networking sessions, and business engagements.
- Ensure all investment sales activities comply with SEC regulations, AML/KYC requirements, internal policies, and approved marketing standards.
- Work with Compliance to ensure proper client onboarding, KYC documentation, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide regular commercial and business development updates to Executive Management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Banking & Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; relevant postgraduate qualifications are an added advantage.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in the Nigerian capital markets, investment management, securities trading, treasury, asset management, or a related financial services environment.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian capital market operations and regulations, including SEC, NGX, FMDQ, CBN requirements, and applicable investment and trading guidelines.
- Demonstrated experience in investment research, securities analysis, trade execution, portfolio monitoring, valuation, and performance analysis across fixed income, equities, FX, or other approved asset classes.
- SEC Sponsored Individual/SEC registration or relevant professional certification such as CFA, CIS, CISI, ACT, ACA/ACCA is an added advantage.
- Excellent quantitative, financial, and qualitative analytical skills, with strong numerical ability and the capacity to interpret financial statements, market data, and economic indicators.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools, including financial modelling, data analysis, reporting, and presentation preparation.
- Familiarity with capital market and financial information platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex market and financial information into clear investment recommendations, reports, and presentations.
- Strong attention to detail, initiative, commercial awareness, time management, and ability to meet deadlines, with a diligent and proactive approach to investment analysis and trade support.
