We are looking for an experienced  Tech writer & Editor to develop relevant content and manage the distribution of short form, long form and market driven news content and research.

Responsibilities ✍️

• Manage the distribution of daily notes about the African tech ecosystem as well as cover macro and sector specific themes and generate interesting and easily digestible content for daba’s userbase.
• Overseeing real-time news coverage via our newsfeed
• Overseeing coverage selection and development for our daily Snacks newsletter
• Supporting other contributing writers in building stories from assignment through publishing
• Collaborating with investment analysts to capture key insights on important news affecting African tech ecosystem
• Collaborate with Research staff to develop a detailed understanding of editorial requests and related content.
• Ensuring a high quality bar for coverage selection, analysis, digestibility, and voice
• Contribute to Editorial content for our members, including Market Recaps, IPO and earnings debriefs, and evergreen educational content across formats like in-app messages, push notifications, emails, blog posts, videos, and more.
• Working with internal teams and executives at private and publicly traded African companies to facilitate Public Town Hall Q&As in the app.
• Serve as a key subject matter resource in the completion of editorial projects.
• Provide supervisory review of Equity Research.

Requirements ✅

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in English or Journalism/Communications
• Demonstrated editorial experience required (preferably in Financial Services)
• Minimum 2 years experience doing thematic research and covering the investment landscape in Africa
• Minimum 2+ years of financial or business news editor
• Excellent editorial judgement
• Passionate about making complex financial topics digestible for a broad audience
• Flexibility and willingness to experiment creatively to improve our editorial
• Collaborative spirit working with cross-functional partners
• Have a portfolio of previous research/writing work to showcase
• Ability to distill real-time market information into concise and informative notes
• Ability to synthesize relevant information and data to highlight interesting themes, and provide informed commentary around the expected impact of market and company events
• Genuine interest in building the future of financial news
