Overview

The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King’s College London is offering multiple £5,000 Postgraduate Taught Scholarships for students starting eligible PGCert, PGDip, or MSc programmes in September 2026.
The scholarship supports students in psychiatry, psychology, and neuroscience by helping offset tuition fees. It is open to Home and International students.

These awards include:

  • School of Academic Psychiatry Scholarships

  • School of Mental Health & Psychological Sciences Scholarships

  • School of Neuroscience Scholarships

  • IoPPN Dean’s Scholarships

Eligibility

Applicants must meet all the following criteria:

  • Have applied for an eligible full-time PG course starting September 2026 (cannot defer).

  • Meet the academic and English language requirements set by KCL.

  • Be Home or International (including EU) fee-status.

  • Confirm they can fund the remaining tuition fees and living costs not covered by the £5,000 award.

  • Must not already hold a Master’s degree or higher.

    • PGCerts, PGDips, and medical/clinical qualifications are still allowed.

Benefits

  • £5,000 tuition fee contribution (paid internally toward your fees).

  • Suitable for PGCert, PGDip, and MSc programmes.

Note: You cannot hold this scholarship alongside any other full tuition scholarship (e.g., Chevening).

Fellowship / Program Components

Scholarship holders may be asked to support IoPPN activities such as:

  • Writing testimonials

  • Speaking at open days or careers events

  • Sharing experiences with prospective students

Application Requirements

You must submit:

  • An online admissions application to an eligible IoPPN programme.

  • A separate scholarship application form (one form per programme if applying to more than one MSc).

  • Supporting documents for a complete application:

    • Transcripts

    • References

    • English test scores (if available)

You do not need to have an offer before applying for the scholarship.

If you cannot access the online form, you can request a Word document version via email.

Selection Criteria

Selection is based on:

  • Academic excellence and qualifications

  • Relevant clinical, research, or work experience

  • Quality of your personal statement, showing:

    • Why you chose the programme

    • How it fits your career goals

    • Your motivation for postgraduate study

Application Process

  1. Apply online to an eligible IoPPN PG course.

  2. Complete the IoPPN Scholarship Application Form (one per programme).

  3. Ensure your admissions application is marked complete with all documents submitted.

  4. Wait for the decision — do not contact the team before the release date.

If awarded the scholarship and holding an offer, you must pay your programme deposit by the deadline given by King’s Admissions.
