Master Mind Scholarship 2026: Overview

The Master Mind Scholarship is a prestigious award funded by the Flemish Ministry of Education and Training, offering exceptional international students the opportunity to pursue a master’s degree in Flanders or Brussels. It provides a €10,000 annual grant plus a full tuition waiver, making it one of Europe’s most competitive merit-based scholarships.

Only 30 scholarships will be awarded across all Flemish universities, with KU Leuven allowed to nominate 20 candidates.
The 2026–2027 call will be officially launched in January 2026.

Eligibility

To qualify, applicants must:

• Apply for an eligible master’s programme in Flanders.

• Hold previous degrees from non-Flemish institutions.

• Demonstrate excellent academic performance (high GPA).

• Meet strict English proficiency requirements:

  • TOEFL iBT Online: ≥94

  • IELTS: ≥7.0

  • Cambridge CPE: Level C2

• Not be enrolled in a Flemish institution (with one specific exception for preparatory programmes).

• Not hold an Erasmus Mundus scholarship or any other Flemish government scholarship.

Eligible for all nationalities except Russian citizens.

Benefits

• €10,000 grant per academic year

• Full tuition fee waiver (only €136.50 admin fee required)

• Scholarship duration:

  • 1 year for 60 ECTS masters

  • 2 years for 120 ECTS masters

Programme Components

• Master ’s-level study at any eligible Flemish university (including KU Leuven).

• Academic excellence, leadership, motivation, and potential are central to the evaluation.

• A one-minute motivational video is required for shortlisted candidates.

Application Requirements

You must submit:

1. A complete application to an eligible master’s programme at KU Leuven before 15 January 2026.

2. The KU Leuven Scholarships & Master Mind Candidacy Form is uploaded as an annex.

3. Registration of scholarship candidacy via the online tool before the deadline.

4. (If nominated) A one-minute motivational video by 18 March 2026.

5. (If preselected) Fill out the Flemish government’s online Master Mind application form.

Selection Criteria

Evaluation considers:

• Academic excellence (GPA, transcript, awards)

• Motivation and clarity of academic goals

• Leadership potential and extracurricular impact

• Relevant work or research experience

• Commitment and overall top applicant profile

Multiple selection stages occur at:

1. Department level

2. KU Leuven central committee

3. Flemish government committee

Final results will be released between late May and early June 2026.
