The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Arizona State University (ASU) enters its third phase (2024–2030), continuing its mission to empower young African leaders. This phase will support 600 scholars, offering world-class education, mentorship, and leadership training to equip them with skills in technology, innovation, and sustainable development.

In partnership with Kepler College (Rwanda), the program blends online ASU graduate degrees with in-person support, ensuring flexible, high-quality learning tailored for African students.

Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Arizona State University (ASU) 2026: Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be African citizens who are passionate about contributing to the continent’s growth and development.

  • Meet the academic requirements for their chosen ASU graduate program.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership potential and a commitment to community service.

  • Be able to undertake online studies with in-person engagement through Kepler College.

Benefits

Selected scholars will receive a fully funded scholarship package that includes:

  • Full tuition fees for the two-year graduate program.

  • Accommodation and living expenses.

  • Leadership development and mentorship from academic and industry professionals.

  • Career guidance and professional networking opportunities.

  • A 2-month internship between the first and second year, aligned with the scholar’s field of study.

  • Access to community engagement programs and innovation projects.

Fellowship/Program Components

The program offers 40 fully funded graduate study opportunities for the 2026 academic year, covering the following ASU degree programs:

  • MS Global Technology and Development

  • MSE Sustainable Engineering

  • MS Information Technology

  • MS Business Analytics

  • MEd Learning Design and Technologies

Learning will combine ASU’s online curriculum with local in-person support provided by Kepler College in Rwanda.

Application Requirements

Applicants must prepare and submit:

  • Proof of English language proficiency.
