Program Description:
Title: MUTA Scholarship Program for Undergraduates 2025
Application deadline: 15 April 2025
The MUTA Education Committee is pleased to announce the call for applications for the 2025 MUTA Education Scholarship Program. This scholarship is awarded based on merit and is open to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), medicine, and allied medical programs.
One qualified recipient will be selected from each of the 14 Tiv-speaking LGAs in Benue State, and one each from Taraba and Nasarawa states.
Award Details
The Committee plans to award up to 16 scholarships for the 2025/2026 academic year. The scholarship amount for each recipient will be determined and announced after the selection process is complete. Recipients may use the funds to cover tuition, fees, research expenses, or other costs directly associated with their undergraduate studies.
MUTA Scholarship Program 2025 Eligibility CriteriaÂ
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), medicine, or any allied medical field.
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.5 on a 5.0 scale (equivalent to a second-class upper degree) or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Note:Â Applicants who do not meet the minimum CGPA requirement will not be considered, even if they have the highest CGPA in their local government.
MUTA Scholarship Program 2025 Required Supporting documents
- Personal Statement: A two-page, double-spaced essay explaining why you deserve this award. Include details about your: academic history and accomplishments, community service involvement, and career goals as well as financial need.
- Certificate of Origin: A document from your State or Local Government confirming your origin.
- CGPA Certification Form: A signed letter from your institution’s Academic Officer or Head of Department verifying your CGPA. (The required form is available for download in the section below the application form.)
Evaluation Criteria
Eligible applications will be reviewed based on the following:
- CPGA (60%)
- Strength of personal statement (40%).
Applications with falsified information will be disqualified.
Completed application form and all required supporting documents must be received by the Committee on or before 5 PM Tuesday, April 15, 2025 [US EST (GMT-5)].
Award winners will be notified via email, while applicants who are not selected will not receive individual notifications. The names of scholarship recipients will also be published on the official website at www.muta.org and shared on MUTA Education’s social media platforms during the second or third week of June. All applicants are encouraged to monitor these platforms for updates on their application status. The awards will be presented at a ceremony planned for July or August 2025, with the exact date to be announced once confirmed.
