NEBOSH Diploma Scholarship 2026 — 20 Fully Funded Health and Safety Qualifications for UK and International Applicants (Deadline: 12 June 2026)
Stop what you are doing.
This one closes in four days, 12 June 2026, and it is genuinely worth dropping everything for if health and safety is your field or a direction you want to move into.
NEBOSH is offering 20 fully funded scholarships for the Level 6 National or International Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals. These are awarded to both UK-based and international learners. The scholarship covers the full cost of online study. No tuition. No partial funding. Fully paid.
What NEBOSH Is and Why This Qualification Matters
NEBOSH — the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health — is the gold standard in health and safety qualifications globally. Their Level 6 Diploma is the highest-level professional qualification they offer and is recognised by employers in construction, oil and gas, mining, manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and virtually every sector where workplace safety is a regulated concern.
In Nigeria specifically, the NEBOSH International Diploma is one of the most requested qualifications by multinational employers, oil companies, engineering firms, construction contractors, and international NGOs. Holding it puts you in a completely different salary bracket from candidates without it.
The scholarship covers the Level 6 National Diploma (primarily UK-focused regulation) or the Level 6 International Diploma (globally applicable). International applicants would typically go for the International Diploma.
The Scholarships
Twenty scholarships are available in this cycle. They are named in memory of Michael Adamson, who died in a preventable workplace incident. The scholarships exist to widen access to professional safety education — specifically for people who cannot otherwise afford it.
That context matters for your application. This is not a corporate sponsorship programme. The selection panel includes Michael’s sister, Louise Adamson, who reads applications personally. They are looking for people with genuine passion for making workplaces safer, not just people who want a free qualification.
A 2023 recipient, Winifred Ayelsum from Ghana, used her scholarship to complete the diploma and secure her first dedicated health and safety role — now working as a Health and Safety Officer in Ghana’s mining sector. Her story is the kind of outcome this scholarship is designed to produce.
Who Should Apply
The scholarship is open to:
- UK-based learners
- International learners
There is no country restriction listed in the call. Nigeria is eligible.
You do not need to already be working in health and safety. The scholarship is described as supporting aspiring health and safety professionals, people at the beginning of or transitioning into the field are explicitly part of the target group.
What the selection panel is looking for:
- Genuine passion for workplace health and safety
- A clear sense of why this qualification matters to you personally and professionally
- Some evidence of purpose — whether through work experience, volunteering, personal experience with workplace incidents, or study
The application numbers are described as “overwhelming” — hundreds of submissions each cycle. Your application needs to be personal, specific, and honest. Generic statements about wanting to help people will not stand out. A specific story about why workplace safety matters to you will.
Why the Deadline Is Today’s Emergency
The application window opened 28 May 2026 and closes 12 June 2026. That is this Thursday.
If this is relevant to you — or to anyone you know in health, safety, construction, oil and gas, mining, or any sector where workplace risk is real — share it immediately. The window is almost closed.
Applications must be submitted through NEBOSH directly at nebosh.org.uk. Search “Michael Adamson Scholarship 2026” on their site for the direct application link.
The Practical Value of This Qualification
To be concrete about what completing the NEBOSH Level 6 International Diploma does for your career in Nigeria and Africa:
- It qualifies you for Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) roles at oil majors — Shell, TotalEnergies, Chevron Nigeria, and their contractors
- It meets the qualification requirement for CMIOSH (Chartered Member of IOSH) applications
- It is accepted by construction and engineering firms hiring for HSE Manager and HSE Advisor roles
- It significantly increases your earning potential in any safety-critical industry
- It is fully online — you complete it from wherever you are
The free version of this qualification, paid for by scholarship, would cost several thousand pounds out of pocket. Twenty people will get it for nothing. Apply before Thursday.
