Overview
The QUT Postgraduate Research Award (QUTPRA) supports current and future postgraduate research students with exceptional academic potential to undertake a PhD or MPhil at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Australia. Open to both domestic and international students, QUTPRA is awarded annually via a competitive selection process.

Annual Stipend:

$37,010 AUD per year (from 1 January 2026), paid fortnightly

Tax-free and indexed annually

Duration:

PhD: Up to 3.5 years full-time (includes up to 6-month extension if approved)

MPhil: Up to 1.75 years full-time (includes up to 3-month extension if approved)

Tuition Fee Sponsorship:

Full tuition fee offset for the first 4 years (PhD) or 2 years (MPhil)

Single Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for eligible international students

Eligibility Criteria
For Future Students:
-
Must meet QUT’s admission requirements for a research degree, including English language proficiency
-
Must not hold another living allowance scholarship for the same degree
-
Must enrol as a full-time, internal student (part-time/external only by approval)
For Current QUT Research Students:

Must have less than 1 year of full-time study for a PhD
-
Must have less than 6 months of full-time study for MPhil
-
Eligible students will receive an invitation to apply once the application round opens
