Scholarships and Awards for International Students at UBC: Merit-Based Awards

1. International Major Entrance Scholarship (IMES)

   • Value: $10,000 – $20,000 per year (renewable up to 3 additional years)

     • Must be studying on a Canadian study permit

3. UBC Okanagan International Welcome Award

   • Value: $5,000 (applied to first-year tuition at UBC Okanagan campus)

     • UBC Okanagan degree must be listed as first choice

     • Enrolment into first-choice program at UBC Okanagan

   • How to Apply:

     • Automatically applied after accepting UBC’s offer of admission

• Apply to UBC by the admissions deadline.

• You will automatically be considered for IMES and OIS—no separate scholarship application is required.

• The UBC Okanagan International Welcome Award is also automatically applied for eligible students.

Evaluation Timeline

• Scholarship decisions: Mid-March to end of April

• Admission offer deadlines: Most students by May 1

• Only successful recipients will be notified.
