Science at Leuven Masters Scholarship for International Students 2026: Eligibility

To qualify for the Science at Leuven Scholarship, applicants must:

• Be international students who have not previously studied or worked at KU Leuven.

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree from a non-Belgian university that qualifies them for admission to a KU Leuven Master’s programme.

• Have achieved excellent academic results (equivalent to at least Distinction at KU Leuven).

• Not already hold a Master’s degree or PhD.

• Be willing to act as an ambassador for the programme after graduation.

Benefits

• Allowance: €12,000 per academic year.

• Tuition Fee Waiver:

  • Non-EEA students pay a reduced fee of €1,651.10 for the 2025–2026 academic year.

  • EEA students do not receive a further tuition fee waiver.

• Duration: Up to two academic years, subject to satisfactory performance in the first year.

• Number of Awards: Varies each year depending on available funds.

Fellowship or Program Components

The scholarship combines financial support with academic mentorship. Selected scholars will engage in cutting-edge research, scientific collaboration, and cultural exchange at KU Leuven’s world-class Faculty of Science.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit:

• A completed online application for their chosen Master’s programme via the KU Leuven application portal.

• A Transcript of Records with course titles, ECTS credits, and grading scale explanation.

• A brief course description (½ to 1 page) of previous studies relevant to the chosen Master’s programme.

• Two letters of reference from internationally recognized professors.

• A motivation letter explaining their interest in the programme.

• A confirmation email of submission from the KU Leuven application portal to attach to the Science at Leuven Scholarship application.
