The Sir Harry Evans Global Fellowship offers an exceptional opportunity for early-career journalists to develop a major investigative journalism project while working alongside top editors at Reuters and accessing academic resources at Durham University. This nine-month paid fellowship is designed to foster rigorous, high-impact, fact-based reporting.

The Fellow will work within a Reuters newsroom in London, New York, Sydney, or Toronto, and collaborate with scholars at Durham’s Institute of Advanced Studies (IAS). They will also be required to deliver a public seminar at the IAS, contributing to academic understanding of journalism and investigative methods.

The first Fellow, Waylon Cunningham, was part of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Reuters team for national reporting in 2024, demonstrating the prestigious nature and real-world impact of the Fellowship.

Sir Harry Evans Global Fellowship 2026 for Early-Career Investigative Journalists: Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Have 2 to 5 years of professional journalism experience,
  OR
  Have worked in a relevant investigative capacity, such as:

  • Leading human rights or socio-political campaigns/publications

  • Authoring or researching investigative works

  • Producing in-depth photo, video, or documentary projects

• Be from any location worldwide (global applicants encouraged)

• Be willing to relocate to one of the Reuters offices (city assigned by the Fellowship Committee)

• Meet immigration requirements of the host country
