Slovak National Scholarship Programme (NSP) 2026: Overview
The National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic (NSP) is a government-funded mobility scholarship established in 2005 to support international students, PhD candidates, university teachers, researchers, and artists. Funded by the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic, the programme enables short- to medium-term study, research, teaching, or artistic stays at Slovak universities and research institutions.
âš ï¸ This is a mobility scholarship, not a full-degree scholarship.
Slovak National Scholarship Programme (NSP) 2026: Eligibility
Applicants must be non-Slovak citizens and fall into one of the following categories:
1. University Students (Master’s level)

Enrolled at a university outside Slovakia

Master’s students or students who have completed at least 2.5 years of university studies

Accepted by a Slovak higher education institution for academic mobility

Duration: 4–10 months (1–2 semesters or up to 3 trimesters)
2. PhD Students
-
PhD candidates studying outside Slovakia
-
Accepted by a Slovak university or research institution
-
Duration: 1–10 months
3. University Teachers, Researchers & Artists
-
Invited by a Slovak institution eligible to conduct research & development

Duration: 1–10 months
Slovak National Scholarship Programme (NSP) 2026: Benefits
Monthly Scholarship Amount
-
Master’s students: €620
-
PhD students: €1,025.50
-
University teachers / researchers / artists:
-
Without PhD & <4 years’ experience: €1,025.50
-
With PhD & <10 years’ experience: €1,370
-
With PhD & >10 years’ experience: €1,470
-
The scholarship covers:
-
Living expenses (accommodation, food, daily costs)
-
Medical insurance-related reimbursements (up to €250 in specific cases)
Travel Grant (Students & PhD Students Only)
Additional one-time travel allowance, based on distance to Slovakia:

€50 – €1,500 (depending on distance)

Paid at the end of the stay

Important Dates

30 April (16:00 CET): Stays in the next academic year

Key Restrictions
The NSP does NOT support:
-
Full-degree studies in Slovakia
-
Applicants who recently spent 15+ months in Slovakia within 36 months
-
Applicants funded by other public scholarship programmes (Erasmus+, Visegrad, etc.)
-
Frequent re-applications (minimum 2-year gap required)
