UICC Technical Fellowships 2025: Overview

The UICC Technical Fellowships offer cancer control professionals the opportunity to undertake short-term international learning visits (from two weeks up to two months) aimed at transferring knowledge, skills, and best practices in cancer prevention, detection, treatment, and care. Launched in 1976 as the ICRETT awards, the program continues to build global capacity through international collaboration in cancer control.

Scholarship Value: Varies (based on fellowship duration and travel/living costs)

Scholarship Duration: 2 weeks to 2 months

Payment Term: One-time fellowship award (based on UICC estimates)

Level of Study: Postgraduate professional development (not academic study)

UICC Technical Fellowships 2025: Key Features:

  • Flexible international fellowships (2 weeks–2 months)

  • Focus on technical knowledge transfer in public health and cancer control

  • Emphasis on equitable, cost-effective cancer strategies relevant to the applicant’s home context

  • Optional support in French and Spanish for applicants from Francophone Africa and Latin America

  • Host institutions include globally recognized cancer centers such as:

    • Princess Margaret Cancer Center (Canada)

    • King Hussein Cancer Center (Jordan)

    • NCC Korea

    • A.C. Camargo Cancer Center (Brazil)

UICC Technical Fellowships 2025: Eligibility

  • Open to professionals in cancer control including:

    • Public health experts (e.g., epidemiologists, health educators)

    • Cancer researchers (implementation, clinical, or translational)

    • Clinicians, nurses, and pathologists

  • Minimum qualification: Master’s degree or equivalent (e.g., MD with board certification; RN qualification)

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in cancer-related fields

  • Medical and PhD students are not eligible

  • Must identify or be able to coordinate with a host institution (UICC can assist)

UICC Technical Fellowships 2025: Benefits

  • Fellowship covers economy travel costs and living expenses

  • Funding calculated according to duration and country-specific cost guidelines

  • Up to two months of technical training abroad

  • Additional establishment support for UICC member organization applicants

UICC Technical Fellowships 2025: Selection Criteria:

  • Awards prioritized for:

    • Cancer prevention, early detection, equitable treatment, and palliative care

    • Projects with clear plans for knowledge dissemination upon return

  • Evaluation based on:

    • Relevance to cancer control

    • Professional background and experience

    • Strength of the host-supervisor collaboration plan

  • Applications for basic research are not prioritized (those applicants are referred to YY Study Grants)
