UniSQ International PhD Stipend & Fee Research Scholarship 2026 | AUD $38,000 + Tuition: Overview

The University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ), Australia offers the International PhD Stipend and Fee Research Scholarship (DPHD) for high-achieving international students commencing or continuing a PhD in 2026.

  • Open to all research areas, with priority for projects aligned to UniSQ’s flagship research areas.

  • Includes opportunities for industry internships, women in STEMM scholarships, and scholarships for students with disabilities.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Have completed a Bachelor’s Degree with First Class Honours or equivalent.

  • Be eligible for full-time on-campus PhD enrolment at UniSQ.

  • Be an international student (not an Australian/New Zealand citizen or permanent resident).

  • Commence or continue PhD studies in 2026.

  • (For continuing students): be within 18 months (full-time) or 36 months (part-time) of PhD enrolment.

Benefits

  • Stipend: AUD $38,000 per annum.

  • Tuition fees covered for up to 3 years full-time equivalent.

  • Optional industry stream: 60-day industry internship with potential co-funding or top-ups.

  • Dedicated support streams: Women in STEMM and students with disabilities.

Fellowship/Programme Components

  • Three years of full financial support for PhD research.

  • Research aligned with UniSQ’s flagship areas (check UniSQ Research Thesis Topics and Experts).

  • Access to industry-linked opportunities via the Industry Stream (requires an internship + partner support).

  • Collaboration with world-class supervisory teams and access to UniSQ’s research infrastructure.

Application Requirements

Applicants must prepare and upload the following documents to the UniSQ Scholarship Application Management System:

  1. Supervisor support letter.

  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV) (with research publications/presentations).

  3. Preliminary Research Thesis Topic Proposal.

  4. Proof of citizenship.

  5. Statement of Claim addressing all selection criteria.

  6. Academic qualifications (testamur + transcripts for all degrees).

  7. (If applying for industry stream): Industry Partner Letter of Support.

Selection Criteria

Applications will be assessed on:

  • Academic achievement (Honours class, postgraduate performance, awards).

  • Research capability (publications, conference presentations, internships, creative works).

  • Research project alignment (with UniSQ flagship priorities, Australian context, impact, feasibility).

  • Supervisory team quality (publication record, complementary expertise, supervisor capacity, resource support).

  1. Identify a supervisor and align your research with UniSQ’s flagship areas.

  2. Prepare the required documents (see list above).

  3. Submit application via the UniSQ Scholarship Application Management System before the deadline.

  4. For the Industry Stream, ensure internship arrangements are approved by UniSQ’s Industry Internship Coordinator.
