University of Sheffield GEMS Undergraduate Scholarship 2026: Overview

The GEMS Undergraduate Scholarship 2026 at the University of Sheffield, UK, offers exceptional students from GEMS institutions in the UAE, Qatar, or Egypt the chance to receive up to £17,500 toward their undergraduate studies. This award recognises academic excellence, leadership, and community engagement, supporting students who demonstrate initiative and ambition.

Eligibility

To qualify for the GEMS Scholarship 2026, applicants must:

• Begin an undergraduate degree at the University of Sheffield in September 2026.

• Be a current student at a GEMS school in the UAE, Qatar, or Egypt.

• Choose the University of Sheffield as their firm or insurance choice by 4:00 pm (UK time), Wednesday 3 June 2026.

• Be self-funded and classified as an overseas fee-paying student.

• Not sponsored by any organisation.

• Note: Courses in Medicine (A100/A101) and Dentistry (A200) are not eligible.

Scholarship Benefits

• Total value: Up to £17,500 for the duration of the course.

• £10,000 tuition fee discount in the first year.

• £2,500 tuition discount for each subsequent year, subject to maintaining:

  • At least 60% average and

  • 120 credits in the previous academic year.

• Automatic eligibility for the International Undergraduate Scholarship (£2,500 per year) in later years, based on performance.

• Applications open: Monday, 1 December 2025

• Deadline: Monday, 16 February 2026, at 1:00 pm (UK time)

• Results announced: Monday, 16 March 2026

• Scholarship acceptance deadline: Monday, 20 April 2026, at 4:00 pm (UK time)

Selection Process

This is a competitive award evaluated by a panel of senior university staff. Selection is based on:

• Academic excellence and a strong academic record.

• Achievements in education, volunteer work, or extracurricular activities.

• Clear connection between achievements, chosen course, and future career goals.

Additional Information

• All undergraduate courses are eligible except Medicine and Dentistry.

• The scholarship applies only as a tuition fee discount (no cash alternative).

• It cannot be combined with departmental or external sponsorships.

• Deferrals or changes to the course level may lead to forfeiture of the award.

• Recipients will provide a short testimonial and photo for promotional purposes.
