University of Warsaw Doctoral Schools Scholarships (2025/2026) Overview

The University of Warsaw offers scholarships to all doctoral candidates enrolled in its four doctoral schools: Social Sciences, Humanities, Exact and Natural Sciences, and the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School. A special “Scholarship to Start” is also available for top-performing candidates.

University of Warsaw Doctoral Schools Scholarships (2025/2026) Eligibility

• Admission into any of the four doctoral schools at the University of Warsaw.

• Top 20% of candidates (per discipline) qualify for the “Scholarship to Start.”

• Doctoral candidates with a disability certificate are eligible for an additional monthly allowance.

University of Warsaw Doctoral Schools Scholarships (2025/2026) Benefits

• Base Doctoral Scholarship:

  • PLN 4,242 gross per month (before mid-term evaluation)

  • PLN 5,340.90 gross per month (after mid-term evaluation)

• Disability Supplement:

  • Additional PLN 1,040.70 gross per month

• Scholarship to Start:

  • Awarded to 20% of the top-ranking candidates within each discipline (fully funded by the University of Warsaw)

University of Warsaw Doctoral Schools Scholarships (2025/2026) Fellowship/Program Components

• 48-month doctoral scholarship support

• Opportunity to take part in the “Implementation PhD” program (optional) – enables candidates to collaborate with an employer and implement their research outcomes in a real-world setting.

• Submit an application via the Internet Recruitment of Candidates (IRK) platform

• Provide a research project proposal and record of scientific achievements

• Pass the required interview or examination, depending on the school

• Interview or entrance examination performance
