WanaData Fellowships 2025 Overview

Code for Africa (CfA), in collaboration with major civic and media organizations, is launching the 2025 WanaData Fellowships to amplify youth voices and promote secure, inclusive digital spaces across Africa. This six-month fellowship supports 14 passionate African data scientists and storytellers focused on gender data, cybersecurity, e-democracy, youth civic engagement, and human rights, particularly in the Sahel region, neighboring West Africa, and the Horn of Africa.

WanaData Fellowships 2025 Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

• Be a registered WanaData member with at least 1 year of experience in data science or storytelling (activists, influencers, journalists, campaigners, etc.)

• Have a portfolio of published work

• Be based in the Sahel, West Africa, or the Horn of Africa (exceptional applicants from elsewhere in Africa may be considered)

• Be fluent in English or French (bilingual is a plus)

• Have demonstrated interest in gender data, digital rights, SDG16, and civic tech

• Be willing to participate in mentorship, training, and outreach

• Abide by WanaData’s policies on attribution, privacy, and safe spaces
