Overview
The Nordic Scholarship Programme 2026, hosted by the Nordic Africa Institute (NAI) in Uppsala, Sweden, supports Master’s students, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral researchers engaged in Africa-focused studies. The programme offers a one-month fully funded stay at NAI, providing scholars with access to its extensive Africa-focused library and the chance to connect with leading Nordic research communities.

Eligibility
Applicants must:

Be Master’s students, PhD candidates, or postdoctoral researchers in the social sciences or humanities.

Be affiliated with a university or research centre in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, or Iceland (citizenship is not restricted).

Be conducting Africa-oriented studies or research.
Benefits

Travel expenses (least expensive fare) from residential address to Uppsala, Sweden, and return.

Free accommodation in central Uppsala.

Subsistence allowance of SEK 400 per day.

Workspace and computer in a shared office at NAI.

Library access to NAI’s vast collections on contemporary Africa (books, periodicals, newspapers, government documents).
