Overview

The Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship at Teesside University (UK) is a prestigious award designed for exceptional international students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to becoming global changemakers. The scholarship offers £7,000 as a tuition fee waiver for the first year of study, and is open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolling in January 2026.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be international, fee-paying students enrolling at Teesside University (on-campus in Middlesbrough or Darlington).

  • Begin a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate taught degree in January 2026.

  • Have accepted a conditional offer and paid the deposit stated on their offer letter.

  • Submit a strong application that highlights academic merit, leadership, and ambition.

Note: Online and overseas (non-UK) Teesside programs are not eligible.
This scholarship cannot be combined with other Teesside or Alumni scholarships.

Value

  • £7,000 fee waiver applied to the first year of study.

  • Up to 30 scholarships are available for the January 2026 intake.

Application Process

To apply:

  1. Complete the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship application form before the deadline.

  2. Submit a personal statement (max 500 words) covering:

    • Your personal and academic achievements.

    • Your leadership qualities and global vision.

    • How your Teesside degree will help you achieve future goals.

  3. Wait for the International Scholarships Committee to review your application.

  4. Successful applicants will be notified by email.

Selection Criteria

Awards are made based on:

  • Academic excellence.

  • Leadership potential and community involvement.

  • Financial background (where relevant).

  • Overall strength of the personal statement.

Scholarship Conditions

Winners must act as University ambassadors, which may include:

  • Representing Teesside University at events and open days.

  • Participating in promotional campaigns or media features.

  • Mentoring new students and sharing experiences via blogs/vlogs.

  • Remaining active as part of Teesside’s global alumni community.
