What Is This Grant?

The ACU Global Grant provides undergraduate students at Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) member institutions with up to £5,000 to attend short-term summer or winter school programmes hosted by an ACU member university in a different Commonwealth country.

Ten grants are available in this round, five specifically for non-UK Commonwealth citizens, which includes Nigerian and African applicants.

Who Can Apply?

• Be registered as an undergraduate student at an ACU member institution
• Be a citizen of (or hold refugee status in) a Commonwealth country
• Have identified a short-term academic programme (summer or winter school) at an ACU member institution in a different Commonwealth country
• The programme must have an official start date between 1 December 2026 and 31 August 2027
• The programme must be related to your current studies
• Provide two letters of support: one from a departmental head or academic supervisor at your home institution, and one from the proposed programme host

Nigeria is a Commonwealth member. Nigerian students at ACU member universities are eligible for one of the five non-UK grants.

What the Grant Covers

Up to £5,000 — intended to cover programme fees, travel, accommodation, and related costs of attending the international programme.
