Bode Amao Foundation Scholarship: Free Funding for Indigent but Brilliant Nigerian Undergraduates Across All 6 Geopolitical Zones

The Bode Amao Foundation awards scholarships to academically excellent but financially struggling Nigerian undergraduates from 200 level upward — renewable through graduation. Application forms are free. Here’s how to apply.

Overview

Not every life-changing scholarship comes from abroad. Some of the most impactful funding for Nigerian students comes from right here at home, and the Bode Amao Foundation (BAF) Scholarship is one of the most consistent, inclusive, and genuinely needs-focused scholarships available to Nigerian undergraduates today.

The Bode Amao Foundation has supported over 247 indigent students across 28 universities drawn from all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria, funding them from the year of award through to graduation. This is not a one-off payment. It’s sustained, renewable support that follows the student to the finish line.

The scholarship has one clear mission: bright Nigerian students should not be denied education because of poverty. If you are academically strong but financially vulnerable, this scholarship was built for you.

Application forms are available free of charge.

About the Bode Amao Foundation

The Bode Amao Foundation (BAF) is a Nigerian philanthropic organisation dedicated to promoting development through academic leadership among Nigeria’s youth. Founded on a commitment to service and the belief that financial constraints should not determine educational outcomes, BAF has quietly and consistently supported some of Nigeria’s most promising but under-resourced university students.

What makes the foundation distinctive is its reach: it does not restrict itself to one state, one geopolitical zone, one religion, one gender, or one field of study. Applications are accepted from students across the country, and awards are made without prejudice to tribe, sex, religion, or age.

Its track record of supporting students through 28 universities across Nigeria speaks to genuine institutional commitment, not occasional giving.

What the Scholarship Covers

The BAF scholarship is awarded per beneficiary per academic session and remains active throughout the beneficiary’s course of study, provided the student maintains high academic excellence.

While the specific monthly or annual naira amount of the award should be confirmed through the foundation directly (as values are updated periodically), the structure is designed to provide meaningful financial support that reduces the burden on indigent students and their families across the duration of their undergraduate programme.

This is a renewable scholarship, not a one-time grant. That continuity is one of its most valuable features.

Who Can Apply? (Eligibility)

The eligibility criteria are clear and deliberately accessible:

1. Academic Excellence
Your CGPA is the primary academic determinant. High academic performance is required — though specific CGPA thresholds should be confirmed at the time of application, strong candidates typically maintain competitive scores within their institution and department.

2. Student Level
You must be at 200 level or above at the time of completing your application form. The scholarship is not available to 100-level students.

3. Financial Need — Certified Indigence
This is essential. Your financial need must be certified by the Registrar of your university. The Registrar must formally attest that you are truly indigent — meaning genuine financial hardship, not just relative cost pressure. This certification is what distinguishes this scholarship from merit-only awards and ensures support reaches students who genuinely need it.

4. Nigerian Student Status
Applications are accepted from registered Nigerian students only — currently enrolled in Nigerian universities.
