Czech Government Scholarships 2026/2027 for Developing Countries: Overview

The Government of the Czech Republic offers fully funded scholarships to citizens from selected developing countries to study at Czech public universities. This initiative, part of the country’s Foreign Development Cooperation program, supports Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral studies in both Czech and English. Over 20,000 foreign nationals have benefited from the program since the late 1950s.

Scholarship Categories

  • Czech-Taught Programs (with 1-year Czech language preparatory course):

    • Bachelor’s programs (3–4 years) – for applicants from Georgia

    • Follow-up Master’s programs (2 years) – for applicants from Bosnia & Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine, and Belarus

  • English-Taught Programs:

    • Selected Follow-up Master’s programs (2 years) – for all eligible countries

    • Selected Doctoral programs (3–4 years) – for all eligible countries

Czech Government Scholarships 2026/2027 for Developing Countries: Eligibility Criteria

  • Citizens of one of the eligible countries: Bosnia & Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus (democratic forces), Ethiopia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Zambia, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Guatemala, Jordan

  • Meet academic entry requirements for chosen study level:

    • Bachelor’s: Secondary school completion

    • Follow-up Master’s: Bachelor’s degree completion

    • Doctoral: Master’s degree completion

  • English program applicants must pass an online English language test during application process

  • Not a citizen of the Czech Republic, EU, or holder of Czech permanent residency

Documents Required

  • Completed electronic application form

  • Proof of academic qualifications (secondary school, bachelor’s, or master’s degree as applicable)

  • Proof of English proficiency (for English-taught programs)

  • Any additional documents required by the chosen university

Important Notes

  • Application deadline: 30 September 2025

  • Entrance examinations may be required, depending on the university and study program

  • Scholarships are for full-time studies only and cover the standard duration of the program

  • No legal entitlement to a scholarship; awards are based on selection criteria and available slots

Selection Process
Applicants must complete the electronic application, pass a general knowledge test, and—if applying for English-taught programs—pass the online English test. Shortlisted candidates may be required to attend entrance examinations at their chosen university before the scholarship is awarded.
