The DAAD EPOS programme offers scholarships to foreign graduates from development and newly industrialized countries with at least two years’ professional experience. It allows them to pursue a Master’s (and in some cases PhD) degree at German state or state-recognized universities, contributing to sustainable development by training local experts.

  • Graduates from eligible countries (list available on DAAD website).

  • At least two years of relevant professional experience after completing a Bachelor’s degree.

  • Academic degrees should not be older than six years at the time of application.

  • Applicants must not have resided in Germany for more than 15 months by the application deadline.

  • Monthly stipend:

    • €992 for Master’s students

    • €1,300 for PhD candidates

  • Health, accident, and personal liability insurance.

  • Possibility of a 6-month preparatory German language course if the programme is taught in German.

  • Completed and signed the checklist.

  • EPOS application form.

  • CV (in Europass format, without unexplained gaps).

  • One letter of motivation (for all courses, maximum three).

  • Letter of recommendation from current employer (with letterhead, stamp, signature, and current date).

  • Employment certificates proving at least two years’ experience, and ideally a guarantee of re-employment.

  • Language certificates:

    • English: IELTS or TOEFL (Institutional TOEFL is not accepted).

    • German: Proof of minimum B1 level at the time of application (for German-taught courses).

  • Copies of higher education degree certificates (with certified translations if necessary).

  • Transcript of records (plus grading system explanation if not included).

  • APS Certificate (only for applicants from China).

  • Strong academic records (upper third of graduating class).

  • Development-related motivation and social responsibility.

  • Proven ability to drive change and development in the home country after graduation.
