Engineer at Aspire, Remote

As a Hiring Events Engineer at Aspire, you will be responsible for diagnosing, triaging, and resolving production issues related to high-volume, live hiring events. You will work at the intersection of backend and frontend systems, collaborating closely with Client Support and GTM teams to ensure seamless event execution and high client satisfaction. This role requires a versatile engineer who can debug across multiple technologies, take ownership of complex systems, and respond swiftly to production incidents.

 What You’ll Do

  • Debug issues across multiple systems, including event management backends, lobbies, and frontend applications.
  • Support architecture changes and system integrations that may impact hiring event functionality.
  • Maintain and update event logic in response to changes in dependencies and systems.
  • Take ownership of merging, deploying, and releasing code independently with minimal supervision.
  • Use data-driven approaches to troubleshoot production issues and drive continuous improvements.

What You’ll Need

  • 3–5+ years of software engineering experience in production environments.
  • Strong experience with Java/Springboot (Event Management Backend, Lobby Backend) – Primary priority.
  • Experience with Django/Python (Event Management Backend, Lobby Backend) – Secondary priority.
  • Experience with React (Event Management Frontend, Lobby Frontend, IRL Frontend, Jobseeker Frontend).
  • Experience with Kafka for event streaming and messaging.
  • Experience with GraphQL for API development.
  • Experience with SQL or MongoDB for database management.
  • Build and deployment experience (CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure).
  • High level of ownership and autonomy – ability to ramp up quickly and assume responsibility over multiple projects.
  • Capable of working independently without “hand-holding” – proactive in merging, deploying, and owning code.
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously.
  • Takes initiative – proactive rather than waiting for instructions.
  • Clear and concise communication skills.
  • Comfortable handling ambiguity and shifting priorities.
  • Strong prioritization and strategic thinking skills.
  • Uses data to troubleshoot production issues effectively.
  • Product Management experience working with GTM teams and engineers to help with prioritization.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Cursor, or Windsurf.
  • Experience with at least one of the following: Dagster, Data Lakes, or Amazon Athena.
