Sales Engineer

About the role

Your primary goals as a Sales Engineer on Team Alvin will be to meet with prospective clients as part of the sales process, assist with client integrations and write code for new Alvin products with your colleagues on the Alvin Engineering team. You will be expected to liaise professionally with both technical and lay stakeholders at banks to help close sales and lead the organization of integration efforts while also being able to jump in where needed to write code for new solutions.

Responsibilities

• Write effective, scalable code (proficiency in Python and Typescript a must)
• Attend sales and integrations meetings with banks and fintechs and be able to passionately and clearly communicate to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike what we do and the value of our products to the client
• Manage integration planning of Alvin products for new clients and existing ones electing to add new features to their Alvin program
• Communicate status of packages both verbally and in writing via our project management software
• Voice potential blockers proactively and propose specific solutions that optimize for getting quality software to market as expediently as possible
• Abide by SOC 2 compliance requirements
• Manage the testing and debugging of programs
• Implement security and data protection solutions

About you

• You are a clear communicator in English and this is a point of pride for you
• You have strong problem-solving skills and are comfortable making decisions on your own to resolve problems in your domain of responsibility as they arise without significant oversight
• You pride yourself on having a strong team spirit and adopt a growth mindset in the face of challenges
• You have a bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent working experience in computer science and are comfortable writing clean Python code

Qualifications and Skills

• You have more than 4 years of combined experience as a Python developer and frontend engineer
• You have expertise in at least one popular Python framework (i.e., Django, Flask or Pyramid) and one frontend framework (ideally Flutter)
• You have either worked in a Nigerian bank or worked at an enterprise SaaS company selling software to Nigerian banks. Preferred previous roles: Engineering or Sales.
• You have expertise with frontend technologies (i.e., Android, Flutter, JavaScript and HTML5)
• You have strong knowledge of object-relational mapping (ORM)
• You are familiar with server-side templating languages such as Jinja2
• You have experience working with third-party libraries and APIs
• You have a strong understanding of code versioning tools such as Git
• You pride yourself on having a strong team spirit and a growth mindset in the face of challenges and uncertainty
• You have strong problem-solving skills and are comfortable working independently
• You have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline
