Software Engineer at Aspire, Remote
We are seeking two software engineers to support the development, maintenance, and adoption of our self-hosted n8n platform.
The contractors will build and maintain workflow automations, develop custom integrations and nodes, troubleshoot production issues, improve platform reliability, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver automation solutions.
The role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, API integration experience, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain n8n workflows and automations.
- Build custom n8n nodes, integrations, and supporting services as needed.
- Investigate and resolve workflow failures, platform issues, and integration problems.
- Collaborate with platform engineers and business stakeholders to gather requirements and implement solutions.
- Contribute to operational excellence through monitoring, debugging, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support adoption of n8n by helping onboard new use cases and users.
Time zone Adjacent: US time zone
Requirements
Must-Have Skills:
- Proven experience developing modern web applications with exposure to both frontend and backend technologies.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with JavaScript/TypeScript being the primary technologies for this role.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including experience designing, developing, and integrating APIs and distributed systems.
- Candidates with a strong backend and integration engineering background, along with some frontend development experience, will also be considered.
Nice to Have:
- Prior experience with n8n.
- Experience with workflow automation platforms (e.g., n8n, Zapier, Workato, Make).
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native environments.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL and database troubleshooting.
- Experience building AI/LLM-powered workflows and integrations.
- Experience contributing to open-source projects.
