Learn Africa Scholarship Programme 2025–2026 for African Women Overview

The Learn Africa postgraduate scholarship programme, led by the Women for Africa Foundation, offers fully and partially funded opportunities for African women to pursue postgraduate studies (Master’s and PhD) in Spanish universities. With 13 years of impact, the program aims to promote female talent and leadership in academia, with over 445 scholarships awarded to women from 36 African countries.

The 2025/26 edition includes 68 new scholarships and 25 renewals, with growing support for doctoral studies, new thematic areas (e.g., Computational Intelligence, Regenerative Biology), and bilingual/English-language options to broaden access.

Learn Africa Scholarship Programme 2025–2026 for African Women Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Be a woman with nationality and residency in an African country

• Be enrolled in or have graduated from an African university

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree required for PhD applicants)

• Apply for only one scholarship

• Meet the specific academic and language requirements of the host university

• For online scholarships, have the necessary technical equipment and internet access

Online scholarships:

• Tuition fees only

In-person/blended scholarships:

• Tuition fees

• Round-trip travel to Spain

• Accommodation and meals (or monthly allowance)

• Health insurance

Note: PLANETA scholarships (for Moroccan women) cover tuition only.

Expenses NOT Covered

• Visa costs

• Legalization, recognition, and translation of degrees

• Issuance of final certificates

• Daily expenses, including local transportation, hygiene, clothing, etc.

• Re-enrollment fees or failed exam fees

• Internet access for online courses

• Costs for accompanying family members

• Academic and cultural exchange

• Access to the Learn Africa alumnae network (mentoring, coaching, etc.)

• Valid passport or national ID

• Passport-style photo

• CV (Curriculum Vitae)

• Degree certificate(s) and transcript(s)

• Motivation letter

• Reference letter(s)

• Language certificate (if applicable)

Learn Africa Scholarship Programme 2025–2026 for African Women: Selection Criteria

Applications will be evaluated based on:

• CV and academic record

• Motivation letter

• Reference(s)

• Language proficiency

• Project/concept note (if required)

Selection is carried out in collaboration with host universities. Final results will be published on the Women for Africa Foundation website in June 2025. Only successful candidates will be notified.

Scholarship Acceptance and Obligations

• Selected applicants must accept the scholarship within 7 working days

• Failure to accept on time results in loss of the scholarship

• Withdrawal without valid reason may result in penalties, including ineligibility for future opportunities

• Obligations include visa arrangements, submission of legalized academic records, and maintaining academic performance

Commitments Following the Scholarship

• Submit academic results and report to the Foundation

• Participate in alumnae network activities

• Authorize use of scholarship experience for promotional/impact materials
