Applications opened on 12 August 2026.

Refugee status exception: If you have refugee status and are eligible for Home Fee status, you may apply even if you do not meet the minimum UK/Ireland school attendance requirements.
Why the Martingale Foundation Exists
Mathematical sciences and AI research in the UK are among the most intellectually demanding and economically significant fields in the world. They are also among the most socioeconomically homogeneous; students from low-income backgrounds are significantly underrepresented in postgraduate mathematics and AI research relative to their proportion of the population.
The Martingale Foundation exists to change that. By providing full funding and professional development to talented students who would otherwise be unable to access postgraduate research, it is building a more diverse and socially representative next generation of mathematical and AI researchers.
