Monash University Indonesia Scholarships 2026 — Five Funding Options for Master’s Students (Including Fully Funded)

Monash University Indonesia Scholarships 2026 — Five Funding Options for Master’s Students (Including Fully Funded)

When most people think of Monash University, they think of Melbourne, Australia. What fewer people know is that Monash University has a fully operational campus in Indonesia, and that campus offers five distinct scholarship and funding opportunities for Master’s students in 2026, ranging from automatic tuition waivers to fully funded government scholarships.

This post covers every scholarship currently available at Monash University, Indonesia, for postgraduate students who qualify for each one, what each pays, how to apply, and which deadlines are still open.

Why Monash University Indonesia?

Monash University, Indonesia, is not a satellite campus offering a diluted version of the Monash experience. It offers globally recognised Monash University degrees, the same brand, the same academic standards, and the same credentials as the Melbourne campus — while being located in Indonesia, with the cost advantages that brings.

The campus offers Master’s programmes in Public Policy and Management, Marketing and Digital Communications, Business Innovation, Global Business, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Public Health, Urban Design, and Sustainability, as well as a PhD programme.

For students who want a world-class university degree without the cost of living in Australia, the UK, or the US, and particularly for Indonesian students who want to study at an internationally recognised institution while remaining in their home country, Monash Indonesia is a compelling option.

1. LPDP Scholarship: Fully Funded for Indonesian Citizens

Value: Fully funded Open to: Indonesian citizens Deadline: Check the official LPDP website for current batch deadlines

The LPDP (Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan) scholarship is the Indonesian government’s flagship higher education funding programme — administered by the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education under the Ministry of Finance. It is one of the most generous and well-known scholarship programmes in Southeast Asia, funding Indonesian students to pursue postgraduate study both domestically and internationally.

Monash University, Indonesia is categorised as a domestic destination university (daftar perguruan tinggi tujuan dalam negeri) under the LPDP framework. This means all Master’s and PhD programmes at Monash Indonesia are eligible for LPDP funding — including all ten programmes listed above.

What LPDP Covers

LPDP is a fully funded scholarship. Depending on the specific LPDP programme stream, it typically covers full tuition fees, a monthly living allowance, research and book allowances, and travel costs. The full benefit package varies by stream — check the official LPDP website at lpdp.kemenkeu.go.id for the current 2026 terms.

For LPDP 2025 Awardees

If you were awarded the LPDP scholarship in 2025 and are now ready to commence your programme, Monash University Indonesia welcomes you for the July 2026 intake. Additionally, if you were originally accepted to a foreign university but are reconsidering and want to study in Indonesia instead, Monash Indonesia is an eligible change-of-destination option for LPDP scholars. Contact the Monash Indonesia admissions team directly for support in making this transition.

How to Apply

Apply for the LPDP scholarship directly through the official LPDP portal — not through Monash. Once awarded, select Monash University Indonesia as your destination institution and apply for admission through Monash MyApp.

2. Future Leader Scholarship, 50% Tuition Waiver for Exceptional Candidates

Value: 50% tuition fee waiver for Year 1 (first two semesters). Open to: New Master’s applicants with a GPA above 3.7 and demonstrated leadership. Number available: 6 scholarships for July 2026 intake. Deadline: 15 May 2026 (this deadline has passed for the July 2026 intake — check Monash Indonesia for the next available intake)

The Future Leader Scholarship is Monash Indonesia’s flagship merit-based award. It is designed for candidates who are not just academically exceptional but who have demonstrated clear leadership potential and have a vision for the positive impact they want to create in Indonesia after graduation.

What It Covers

A 50% tuition fee waiver for the first year of study, for the first two semesters. This is a one-time award and is not renewable for the second year. The scholarship cannot be combined with other Monash Indonesia scholarships.

Eligibility

Academic requirement: A GPA greater than 3.7 out of 4.0 — or the equivalent — from your previous academic institution. This is a high bar. The scholarship is explicitly for outstanding academic performers, not just above-average ones.

Leadership requirement: You must submit a personal statement and a three-minute video detailing your leadership experience and your plan to create a positive impact in Indonesia after graduation. Both submissions are mandatory and are the primary basis for selection.

How to Apply

Step 1: Submit your full application to Monash University Indonesia through Monash MyApp.

Step 2: Submit your scholarship application through the separate scholarship application link provided on the Monash Indonesia website, including your personal statement and a link to your three-minute video.

Step 3: Candidates are selected based on the video submission and the internal marking process.

What Makes a Strong Application

The video is the differentiating component. Here is what will make yours stand out:

Be specific about your leadership experience. Do not describe yourself as “a natural leader” or list titles you have held. Describe a specific situation where you led something, what challenge you faced, what you did, and what resulted.

Make your Indonesia impact plan credible. The scholarship committee is looking for candidates who have genuinely thought about what they want to achieve in Indonesia — not abstract ambitions about “making a difference” but specific, realistic plans grounded in your field of study and professional context.

Keep the video tight. Three minutes is short. Script it in advance, practise it until it sounds natural (not memorised), and do not waste time on a lengthy introduction. Get to the substance immediately.

3. Postgraduate Academic Excellence Award: Automatic Tuition Waiver Based on GPA

Value: IDR 15,000,000 to IDR 30,000,000 one-time tuition waiver. Open to: All new Master’s applicants, automatic assessment. Deadline: Rolling, assessed automatically upon application

This is Monash Indonesia’s most accessible scholarship, because there is no separate application. Every student who applies for a Master’s programme at Monash Indonesia is automatically assessed for the Postgraduate Academic Excellence Award based on the GPA from their Bachelor’s degree.

Award Tiers

The scholarship is tiered based on your GPA from your undergraduate institution. The specific GPA thresholds vary depending on the accreditation level of your previous institution.

For institutions with A or B programme accreditation (Unggul/Baik Sekali):

Tier Academic Level One-Time Tuition Waiver Minimum GPA (4.0 scale)
Tier 4 High Distinction IDR 30,000,000 3.5 and above
Tier 3 Distinction+ IDR 25,000,000 3.3 and above
Tier 2 Distinction IDR 20,000,000 3.1 and above
Tier 1 High Credit IDR 15,000,000 2.9 and above

For institutions with C programme accreditation (Baik), the minimum GPA thresholds are higher. For specialised institutions like PKN STAN or STMKG, there are specific GPA scales that apply. Contact the Monash Indonesia admissions team if your institution falls outside the standard categories.

How It Works

You do not need to do anything special. Submit your full Master’s programme application — including academic transcripts — through Monash MyApp. The admissions team will verify your GPA against the eligibility criteria and notify you of your award in the same letter as your offer of admission.

Think of this as a welcome bonus — automatic financial support based on your academic record, requiring zero additional effort on your part.

Limitation

This is a one-time award applied to your first year only. It cannot be combined with other scholarships.

4. Vice Chancellor Progression Scholarship: For Current Monash Indonesia Students

Value: IDR 10,000,000 to IDR 20,000,000 per year. Open to: Current Monash Indonesia students — automatic annual assessment. Deadline: Automatic — reviewed at the end of each academic year

The Vice Chancellor Progression Scholarship is not for new applicants — it is for students who are already enrolled at Monash Indonesia and maintaining strong academic performance. It rewards continued commitment and achievement.

Award Value Based on WAM

Weighted Average Mark (WAM) Scholarship Value
60% and above IDR 10,000,000
70% and above IDR 15,000,000
80% and above IDR 20,000,000

For Master’s students, the scholarship is distributed on a pro rata basis per term.

Eligibility

You must be a current undergraduate or Master’s student at Monash Indonesia (or transferring from Jakarta International College), be continuing into Year 2 or Year 3 (for undergraduates) or completing the Master’s programme, and have no failed units on your academic record.

Students on split “1.5 + 1.5” programme structures are not eligible. If you transfer out of Monash Indonesia, the scholarship ceases.

How It Works

No application is required. Your academic records are reviewed automatically by the scholarship committee at the end of each academic year. If you meet the WAM threshold, you are notified directly.

The practical implication is straightforward — if you are currently enrolled or planning to enrol at Monash Indonesia, maintaining a WAM above 70% unlocks annual financial support on top of whatever scholarship you received at entry.

5. Beasiswa Indonesia Bangkit (BIB): Fully Funded for MoRA Community Members

Value: Fully funded Open to: Members of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) community Application deadline: 31 May 2026

The Beasiswa Indonesia Bangkit (BIB) is a collaborative, fully funded scholarship between the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) and LPDP under the Ministry of Finance. It is specifically designed to accelerate human resource development within the MoRA ecosystem — targeting teachers, lecturers, administrators, and other professionals affiliated with MoRA institutions who want to pursue postgraduate study.

Monash University Indonesia has a formal collaboration with MoRA for this scholarship, meaning Monash Indonesia is a verified destination for BIB scholars.

What BIB Covers

BIB is a fully funded scholarship — covering tuition fees, living allowances, and related study costs in line with LPDP terms. The full benefit structure is published on the official MoRA BIB portal.

Eligibility

This scholarship is exclusively for members of the MoRA community,  staff, lecturers, administrators, and affiliated professionals within the Ministry of Religious Affairs ecosystem. If you are not part of this community, BIB is not available to you.

Which Scholarship Should You Apply For?

Here is a simple decision guide based on your situation:

You are an Indonesian citizen with strong academic credentials, and finances are your primary concern: Apply for LPDP — it is the only fully funded option available to Indonesian students generally. Then, apply for admission to Monash Indonesia and declare it as your destination institution.

You are in the MoRA community: Apply for BIB immediately, the deadline is 31 May 2026. Apply for your Unconditional LoA from Monash Indonesia today.

You have a GPA above 3.7 and strong leadership experience: Apply for the Future Leader Scholarship. The deadline has passed for the July 2026 intake, but check Monash Indonesia for future intake windows.

You have a strong GPA from your Bachelor’s degree: You will be automatically assessed for the Postgraduate Academic Excellence Award when you apply. No additional effort required, just submit a complete application with your transcripts.

You are already enrolled at Monash Indonesia: Focus on maintaining a WAM above 70% to qualify for the Vice Chancellor Progression Scholarship — automatic annual support that compounds with your existing award.
