NYCU International Students Scholarship: Overview

The National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) is offering scholarships for eligible international students enrolling in the 2026 Spring semester. This scholarship includes monthly stipends and tuition waivers, aiming to support outstanding foreign students academically and financially.

Application Deadline: September 15, 2025
Result Announcement: December 25, 2025

Scholarship Categories

• Tuition Waiver (covers basic tuition fees for Spring/Fall only)
• Monthly Stipend (amount and availability vary)

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be an international student (non-Taiwanese nationality)
• Must not be currently receiving any government-funded scholarships (e.g., Taiwan Scholarship, UST, TIGP, etc.)
• Must not hold a working VISA/ARC
• Must have completed at least one semester at NYCU
• Must meet academic performance criteria:
 – Graduate students: At least one core course + GPA of 3.5 or above
 – Undergraduate students: GPA of 3.0 or above
• Must have a conduct grade of A or higher

Documents Required
Documents are submitted during the online application process via the Office of International Affairs (OIA) portal. Additional proof may be needed for Mandarin course exemption.

Important Notes
• Chinese Language Requirement:
 – Undergraduate awardees must take at least 4 Mandarin courses
 – Master’s/Ph.D. awardees must take at least 2 Mandarin courses
 – Students may be exempted by passing TOCFL Level 2+ or NYCU placement test
• Tuition waiver does not cover incidental fees (e.g., insurance, dormitory, campus facilities)
• Students are responsible for renewing the scholarship on time. Late applications are not accepted.

Selection Process

• Academic performance and conduct will be reviewed
• Ineligible if already receiving government scholarships or holding a work ARC/VISA

Scholarship Value

• Tuition waiver (Spring/Fall only)
• Monthly stipend (paid around the 10th of each month; some delays may occur due to processing)

Duration
Covers the Spring 2026 semester. Renewal required for subsequent semesters.
