Paediatric Anaesthesia Scholarships at the University of Nairobi (2025/2026) Overview
The University of Nairobi, in partnership with the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA), is offering up to three fully-funded 12-month Paediatric Anaesthesia Fellowships starting September/October 2025. Fellows will be based at Kenyatta National Hospital and rotate through other hospitals with active paediatric surgical programs.
Paediatric Anaesthesia Scholarships at the University of Nairobi (2025/2026) Eligibility

Physician anaesthesiologists registered as doctors/medical practitioners in their home country.

Eligible for registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.

Early-career anaesthesiologists from Kenya, Central, and Eastern Africa are preferred, but others across Africa are welcome to apply.

Supported by their national anaesthesiology society (a WFSA member) and head of department/hospital management.

Must return to their home country to a recognized post (preferably in a teaching hospital).

Completed online application form through WFSA’s platform (Select Chapter ‘Fellowships’, Category ‘Nairobi Paediatrics Fellowship 2025/2026’).

Curriculum vitae with a recent photo and names of two referees.

Recommendation letter from the National Anaesthesiology Society.

A recommendation letter from the head of the department or hospital management.

Copy of medical degree.

Copy of specialist anaesthesiology qualification.

Copy of passport photo page.
Application Requirements (via University of Nairobi)

Online application form (via UoN portal).

Certified copies of medical and anaesthesia degrees and transcripts.

Verification of foreign degrees and transcripts by the Kenya Commission for University Education.

Certified high school certificates verified by the Kenya authorities.

Certificate of good standing from the medical registration authority.

Valid police clearance from the country of residence.

Evidence of Yellow Fever and Hepatitis B vaccinations.

Official English translations for any non-English documents.
Application Process

Apply online via the WFSA platform by 30 June 2025.

Apply separately via the University of Nairobi portal with all required documentation.

Successful applicants will be notified in July 2025 and must confirm acceptance within 2 days of notification.
