PTDF Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme 2025 Overview

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) invites applications for its fully funded Overseas MSc and PhD scholarships for the 2024/2025 academic session. This opportunity allows Nigerian students to study at partner universities in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Malaysia—institutions recognized for their academic excellence and global standard facilities. The program aims to develop indigenous human capacity in petroleum-related disciplines.

PTDF Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme 2025 Eligibility

For MSc Applicants:

• A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) or Second Class Lower (2.2) with relevant industry experience

• Completion of NYSC

• Computer literacy

• 5 O’level credits including English and Mathematics

• A 500-word Statement of Purpose outlining the study’s relevance to the oil and gas industry and national development

• Valid National Identity Number (NIN) with verification

For PhD Applicants:

• A Second Class Lower (2.2) first degree and a relevant postgraduate degree

• A five-page research proposal related to the oil and gas industry (topic, objectives, methodology, data collection methods)

• Completion of NYSC

• Letter from Vice Chancellor for lecturers confirming no existing scholarship support

• Valid NIN with verification

• 5 O’level credits, including English and Mathematics

• Must be computer literate

PTDF Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme 2024/2025 Program Components

• MSc and PhD programs offered in partnership with selected PTDF-approved institutions and programs only

• Studies must align with PTDF’s mandate in the oil and gas sector

• Scholars will undergo a rigorous selection process and an interview stage

Scanned copies of the following documents must be uploaded:

• First Degree Certificate or Statement of Result

• NYSC Discharge Certificate

• WAEC/NECO result with PINs

• Passport Photograph

• Local Government Identification Letter

• Master’s Certificate (PhD only)

• Membership of professional associations

Selection Criteria

• Academic merit and qualifications

• Relevance of study plan or research proposal

• Publications (PhD applicants)

• Industry relevance of proposed program

• Membership in professional bodies
