Sanctuary Scholarship (Master’s) at the University of Sussex 2025 Overview

The University of Sussex offers the Sanctuary Scholarship to support forced migrants who are unable to access student loans. This scholarship enables them to pursue a Master’s degree starting in September 2025.

Sanctuary Scholarship (Master’s) at the University of Sussex 2025 Eligibility

To apply, you must:

• Have an offer to study an eligible Master’s course at the University of Sussex (starting September 2025).

• Be currently residing in the UK.

• Have a household income under £35,000.

• Be unable to access UK student financial support due to your immigration status.

• Meet one of the following criteria:

  • Applied for asylum or be a dependent of someone who has.

  • Granted temporary leave to remain (e.g., humanitarian protection).

  • Be a partner/child of an asylum seeker or an unaccompanied asylum-seeking child.

Who isn’t eligible

You are not eligible if you:

• Are not living in the UK.

• Applied for asylum in a country other than the UK.

• Are applying to another university or for an ineligible course (e.g., online, PGCE, BSMS, IDS, NHS-funded, or partner institute courses).

• Full tuition fee waiver (overseas fee rate)

• £16,440 living costs

• Sussexsport membership
