UM Global Studies Scholarship 2026: Overview
The UM Global Studies Scholarship 2026 offers a fully funded opportunity for outstanding international students from OECD-eligible developing countries to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Global Studies at Maastricht University, the Netherlands. This unique interdisciplinary programme trains students to understand and solve complex global challenges through collaboration across academic disciplines and borders.
UM Global Studies Scholarship 2026: Eligibility
Applicants must:

Hold nationality from an OECD-eligible country (not from the EU/EEA).

Be 35 years old or younger as of 1 September 2026.

Have no prior higher education degree equivalent to a bachelor’s.

Be conditionally or fully admitted to the Global Studies bachelor’s programme at Maastricht University.

Meet all programme-specific admission requirements.

Agree to act as a Global Studies and UM ambassador during and after their studies.

Apply only once with all required documents properly submitted.
UM Global Studies Scholarship 2026: Benefits
The scholarship provides full financial support for the three-year programme, including:

Living allowance: €15,925 per year (approx. €1,225 monthly)

Tuition fees: Fully covered

Health and liability insurance: Covered

Visa and residence costs: Covered

Pre-Academic Training and ISAP costs: Covered

Guaranteed housing (mandatory for all recipients)
Note: Airfare is not included.
Programme Duration
The Global Studies bachelor’s programme runs for 36 months (3 academic years).
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit:

Curriculum Vitae (max 2 pages) – Include education, relevant experience, extracurricular activities, and awards.

Motivation Letter – Using the provided template.

Proof of Academic Excellence – Latest transcript showing at least 75% of the maximum grade.

Personal Statement of Financial Need – Describe personal and financial circumstances.

Reference Letter – From a professor, teacher, counsellor, or employer (not a relative).

Referee Contact Details – With valid institutional email and work phone number.
Application Process
Step 1: Apply for the Global Studies bachelor’s programme via Studielink.nl.
Step 2: Once you receive your UM student ID, fill in the scholarship application form (available from 1 October 2025).
Upload all required documents in PDF or DOC format.
Selection Process

Applications are reviewed for completeness after 1 February 2026.

Eligible applications are ranked based on academic merit and potential.

The top 5 candidates are invited for an online interview.

Final decisions are made by April 2026, with results released by June 2026.
