The Melbourne International Undergraduate Scholarship is a prestigious award offered by the University of Melbourne to academically outstanding international students who are enrolling in a bachelor’s degree. It aims to support students from countries where access to international education is limited due to financial disadvantage.

Melbourne International Undergraduate Scholarship 2026: Eligibility

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must:

• Be citizens of a country with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita of US$10,000 or less (based on World Bank data).

• Have applied for and met the entry requirements for an Overseas Fee place in a bachelor’s degree.

• Have completed secondary school outside Australia or a foundation program in Australia.

• Not have previously undertaken tertiary studies (excluding extension studies completed during Year 12).

Melbourne International Undergraduate Scholarship 2026: Benefits

• 25% tuition fee remission for one or more years of study.

• At least 110 scholarships are awarded annually.

• Scholarship can be deferred to the next academic year if needed.

Selection Criteria

Selection is based on academic merit. The scholarship is automatically awarded to students with the highest results from their final secondary school or foundation studies.
Examples of minimum selection scores for common qualifications include:

• International Baccalaureate (IB): 40

• GCE A Levels: AAA*

• Indian Certificates (AISSC, ISC, HSC): 96%

• US High School Diploma: 3.9 GPA plus 1400 SAT or 30 ACT

• Vietnam High School Graduation Certificate: 9.8

• Australian Foundation Studies: 97

Selection scores are reviewed annually and may vary from year to year.

Conditions

• Recipients must maintain an average result of at least 70% per semester to retain the scholarship.

• The scholarship is governed by the Coursework Scholarships Terms and Conditions.

Application Process

No separate scholarship application is required. All eligible international applicants who apply for admission to a bachelor’s degree are automatically considered.

Notification of Outcome

• Successful candidates will receive a scholarship offer within two weeks of receiving their course admission offer.

• Unsuccessful applicants will not be notified.
